DM-Ice is currently in the design phase, operating two detectors for development purposes in the ice at the South Pole. DM-Ice detects dark matter particles in an effort to understand the nature of this elusive matter. The Askaryan Radio Array (ARA) is under construction at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station and is designed to look for neutrinos produced when cosmic rays interact with the cosmic microwave background radiation. The High-Altitude Water Cherenkov (HAWC) experiment is located on the flanks of the Sierra Negra volcano near Puebla, Mexico. At an altitude of 4100 meters, HAWC performs a high-sensitivity synoptic survey of the sky at energies between 100 GeV and 100 TeV. For more photos, please visit the HAWC at WIPAC galleries. IceCube is the world's largest neutrino detector, encompassing a cubic kilometer of ice at the South Pole. The construction of the neutrino observatory lasted seven seasons, completed on December 18, 2010.
